March for Life in Mukachevo

On the Day of Child Protection, 1 June, two events were organized in Mukachevo for the second time: a day of prayer for unborn babies and the March for Life to the gynecology clinic where abortions are done. With this event, we would like to speak out for the protection of unborn babies who have been created by God but did not get the right to live.

Roma Meeting in Mukachevo

Roma faithful from Hungary and Transcarpathia met at the episcopate in Mukachevo on 18 February. Participants in the meeting included Bishop Antal Majnek and invited guests from Hungary, Dr. János Székely, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, and Rev. Géza Dúl, one of the leaders of Roma evangelization in Hungary.

Blessing of Cross in Mukachevo’s Barakktelep

On 29 October 2010, Bishop Antal Majnek blessed a cross standing on the spot of the church yet to be built in Barakktelep, Mukachevo. P. István Pogány, parish priest of Mukachevo who has been serving in Barakktelep as well for several years now also attended the ceremony along with P. Antal Michels parish priest of Mukachevo-Palanok and many faithful from the neighborhood.

Saint Teres’ Rehabilitation Home Renewed in Vynohradiv

The Roman Catholic Parish of Vynohradiv established St. Teres’ Rehabilitation Home in 1998. The goal was to help families raising physically or mentally disabled kids. In May this year a thorough renovation of the first floor was made that included: windows, doors, heating, electricity and water system, as well as making the classrooms, rehabilitation rooms and the restrooms more conveniently accessible for the disabled.

Saint Martin’s Feast Day in Mukachevo

The feast of our diocese and cathedral was celebrated on November 11, the feast day of Bishop Saint Martin.
The guest speaker at the celebration was the Apostolic Nuncio of Ukraine. Antal Majnek diocesan bishop greeted the Nuncio and emphasized that his Excellence paid his first visit to our diocese when he arrived in Ukraine six years ago.
